Tomorrow

Bailey and Aubrey are spending the night with their Grandma and Papa tonight. We had Bailey's speech evaluation today and they'll schedule therapies soon. We also scheduled PT today and she will have it twice per week.

I have an interview tomorrow morning in Maitland at 8:00am! Ack, that's early! Then Bailey will have a renal ultrasound, VCUG, and an x-ray of her neck. Those start at 11:45am, so I'm hoping I make it back to Lakeland to be there for the tests. I've been dreading tomorrow because I hate to see her in pain, but at least these tests will rule out any kidney issues. The x-ray is ordered because her PT wants to make sure there aren't any issues before therapies start. About 10%-30% of people with Down syndrome have Atlantoaxial Instability. The x-ray will determine if she has AAI. The concern is because she seems to have torticollis, but they need to determine if that is the only issue. Here's more information if you're interested. http://www.ndss.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=200&Itemid=119 I'll post more tomorrow when we get home.

Please keep Bailey in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow. I've heard the kidney tests are extremely painful.

Play Time... but, I was Productive too!

This morning we had an appointment with Bailey's eye surgeon. Surgery has been rescheduled for March 7th at All Children's Hospital. It should be outpatient, but her doctor said to be prepared because she will be under general anesthesia and may need an overnight stay, but there's nothing to be concerned about. This is a very simple surgery.

After that we met Janice and her two beautiful little girls for a day at Chuck E. Cheese's. I think the girls really enjoyed themselves. Aubrey's just like her mommy... a little bossy, but she got better after they played for a bit.

When we left I made a few calls to Early Steps, and both locations where Bailey gets therapies. Finally, we have 2 PT sessions per week approved, and we're getting our speech evaluation tomorrow! This is so exciting!

I hope everyone is doing well and we'll talk soon.

We're Healthy and Moving Forward

I think it's time to move forward. Bailey is a healthy little girl, so I think it's time to have a family page that can focus on some of the fun things we do. We will, of course, have a few obstacles along the way, but what family doesn't?

Keith and I had a very relaxing weekend. We were able to get a night away... just the two of us! The girls spent Saturday night with my parents and we had a nice night out. Dinner, a few drinks, and a good nights sleep. I even slept past 7:00am!

Aubrey and Bailey are both sleeping peacefully now. Aubrey is getting more and more difficult to put in bed each night. She tries everything to be able to stay up... I need to pee pee, I need to poop, I need some water, I want to read a book. Most of which we did before bed to avoid delays, but of course it doesn't work!

It's been 4 days since my interview for a job I would love to have. I'm hoping to receive a call this week. I never imagined finding a job would be this difficult, and the current economy isn't making it easier.

I hope everyone has had a pleasant weekend.

Looking Good and Lots of Energy

Bailey is doing great! We went to the pediatrician yesterday and he was so pleased with how she's doing. She has also gained almost a pound in less than two weeks. Thats great! She's been losing weight, so we were very pleased to see her start gaining. She now weighs a little over 15 pounds.
Aubrey is also doing very well. She's full of energy, and never stops talking and playing. She's a mini Aunt Kelli, she loves to talk, loves people, and is just a beautiful person. The one person I think Aubrey enjoys being with most is her little sister. If Bailey isn't around, she always asks where Bailey is, if Bailey is crying she always runs to get me, and when Bailey is "talking" Aubrey joins in on the conversation. I can't wait to see my two beautiful girls grow up together.
I hope you all are doing well. Oh, and please send good luck finding a job vibes my way. I really need it!

Being a Mom Isn't Always Easy

Hello again! We're all doing very well here. Bailey went to her pediatrician on Friday and he wants us to continue breathing treatments through Winter. It's been so warm here, I didn't even realize it was Winter. Her lungs aren't clear yet, but they're better. They also had to cath her for a urinalysis, and it took 3 tries! Poor Bailey was screaming and I felt horrible. We'll get those results tomorrow. It's been almost 3 weeks since she's had a bladder infection and I'm really hoping it has cleared up. Also, she has PT evaluation tomorrow. I'm so excited that we're finally starting PT!
Aubrey is doing very well. Bedtime is getting very difficult though. She was screaming so much tonight she made herself vomit. I'm sure the neighbors hear her and think we're doing horrible things to our children.
This weekend was full of fun and excitement. We spent yesterday at the zoo with the girls grandparents. We really love our zoo membership! Aubrey loves all the animals and especially loves riding the pony. Bailey just enjoys all the attention she gets. Today we spent some time with their granny and their Aunt Candy and Uncle Tim. Bailey was a little cranky, but Aubrey enjoyed visiting everyone.
Also, we're hoping Aunt Kelli and Mike have a safe trip, and the Alexander family is in our prayers.

Happy Birthday Claire

She's seems much better! She seems more comfortable, and even got to spend the day with grandma and papa while we took Aubrey to a birthday party. She'll spend tomorrow with me while daddy and Aubrey go to the zoo. We have another visit with the doctor on the 8th. This bug is just going around and it seems everyone is getting it, it just seems to hit Bailey harder than the rest of our family. I hope everyone else is doing well.
